Recap of 2009 (Part I) January 4, 2010

2009 was a great year for me! The major highlight was meeting Harman after three-and-a-bit years of emailing each other ever day…we started the year with 5 months of living 2.5 hours away from each other, before living 400m from each other at neighbouring university colleges for the next 4 months.

FEBRUARY 2009 – WE MET!

(Taken from an email to a friend just after we met!).

Well I finally met Harman!!! he arrived in Australia on Tuesday the 10th, and I travelled to the city on that day and waited for him to arrive at his college. He finally got there around 7pm, and my first sight of him was him walking/running down the steep driveway to the gate of the college where I was waiting.

It was a really amazing and lovely yet overwhelming moment when we met. He gave me a quick hug and we started walking really fast trying to find some dinner before I had to go to my grandparents at 8pm.

My first thoughts when I saw him for ‘real’ were.. “omg he is sooo handsome!, oh wow he isn’t fat like he said he was, and wow, he smiles a lot, and wow, is this really true?”. I think I tend to expect things to be worse than they turn out, so I got a real big shock when (to me) Harman seemed like he had walked out of a bollywood movie .

We spent a few hours together over the next 3 days, in between Harman’s uni orientation courses, and then he came on the bus home to stay over with my family for Friday and Saturday night. So I got to show him our beach, he got to meet the family – Little Brett Lee loved him so much he cried when he said goodbye to him – and we got to have fun together.

So, all in all, it was amazing. 3 years was so worth the wait to meet someone I truly love. When I met Harman, there was something I just knew was right, something that I’ve never felt before when other guys have told me I they love me, which has always made me think that ‘true’ love would be different, and I think I was right!
